The Philippine Volleyball League (PVL), a non-profitable organization, was established by a brother and sister, Dan Reyrao and Lynn Reyrao Brownlow, and launched its inaugural season during the Summer of 1996. The PVL is proud to announce that it is reaching its fifteenth season this Summer Season 2011. We also joined the Philippine Independence Parade in Chicago during the Summer of 1996. During the Summer of 2001, we set up a website at http://jump.to/pvl2001 and in the Summer of 2003, www.mypvl.com, which is more current, for everyone to be more connect to us via internet. Our mission is to respond to the Philippine Volleyball League and to commit to a supportive environment empowering individuals personally, professionally, and with great sportsmanship. Keeping with these values we strive to not only help out the people who are a part of the Philippine Volleyball League, but the surrounding communities and people around the world. We strive to teach and express these values to everyone.

We have been playing volleyball at the Weber Leisure Center in Skokie, IL for several years. We will be continuing the league this Summer in May of 2011. We play once a week, with an average of about 15 to 20 coed teams that come from the far West Suburbs to the Northeast Chicago land areas. PVL consists of two separate divisions of Competitive (Division A) and Intermediate (Division B), participants are youths (with parental consents), and young adults ages 18 & up. The volleyball season spans a period of 12 weeks starting in May and ending in August. Most of our athletes practice on their own and all teams participate in formal competitions every Monday night. At the end of each season, we hold final tournaments that give these teams a chance at winning t-shirts, cash prizes, and the PVL traveling trophy. Additionally, PVL has also organized 'end-of-season' outings to bring everyone together in a network-friendly, social environment.

Over the years, PVL has emulated from the other sports organizations, such as, the Philippine National Basketball Association (PNBA), the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), and the Filipino Softball League (FSL). These organizations helped us a great deal to make the Philippine Volleyball League possible.

We have put a lot of time and effort in making this volleyball league successful. The primary goals of the PVL organization are to promote the game of volleyball to the Filipino community as well as other interested, goal-driven participants, commit to a supportive environment for the youth, and ultimately be a great asset for the future.

Tribute to Ella Ventura

In 2002, much of the Filipino community was touched by the loss of Ella Ventura. She had played in the PVL for several years with great sportsmanship and leadership. Volleyball was one of her favorite sports and enjoyed playing in PVL with her friends. Ella will always be remembered as a friend and a great athlete.
